AAM is more than a wonderful collection of planes from a variety of aviation eras. It preserves and showcases the province’s rich aviation history, and how Alberta, and its pilots, were key players in both times of war and early exploration of the North.
With COVID-19 restricting gatherings, the museum has created an agile response to ensure a continued robust and engaging experience. One of those changes is the new Discovery Backpack program, which launched on October 22.
Designed for children ages 4-10, Discovery Backpacks are filled with activities, scavenger hunts, and adventure-based learning that are used as they explore the museum’s aircrafts. For just $5 on top of regular admission, this experience not only enhances the child’s visit, it can be part of their homeschool or distance learning curriculum.
Backpacks are sanitized upon return, but the fun doesn’t stop there. Children get to make their own artwork and paper planes to take home as a souvenir.

AAM has also revamped its membership program, offering even more choice for a variety of guests’ needs. Memberships available include:
