Alberta’s chief medical officer of health and officials will provide an update on COVID-19 and the ongoing work to protect public health at 3:30 p.m.

As part of the $9.5-million contract, AHS will receive 250 handheld devices, along with 100,000 testing kits, to be distributed to healthcare facilities outside of Calgary and Edmonton. The first shipment of devices and testing kits arrives next month.

The budget reduction is slated to last for three months or until regular operations can resume.

Alberta’s top doctor said you are no longer able to go for walks in your neighbourhood or visit a park if you are self quarantining.

“Although these individuals had risk factors like older age or chronic medical conditions, their lives mattered as much as any of ours. This has been one of the hardest days yet."

What now?

The St. Albert detachment has seen a decrease in calls for service over the past week, but as tensions begin to rise around safeguarding property, mental wellness due to self-isolating and social distancing and the economic downturn, RCMP anticipate this could change and contribute to the rise of different crime trends.

Seventy-three Albertans have so far recovered.
