With the motto “We Serve” the St. Albert Host Lions Club provides humanitarian service locally and abroad.
“We give back to the community while enjoying club member fellowship and self-development,” says Barb Riley, President. Our theme of “Where there’s a need there’s a Lion,” and our many service projects speak to the need of increasing membership.
In 2021, the St Albert Host Lions Club is poised to celebrate 70 years of service in our community. In addition to preparing to participate in the Canadians Lions’ Centennial tree planting project this year, the club remains busy with its signature service projects of the Lions Park and the 533 St. Albert Air Cadet Squadron.
Other projects include the Lions Legacy Scholarship program, a peace poster contest and youth night, collection and distribution of used eyeglasses to third world countries, community sponsorship of refugees, preparing meals for the homeless and for Ronald McDonald House, Lions Project Pride (Canadian flag program for Grade 1 students), Lions Eye Research Foundation at the Royal Alexandra hospital, Rotary Music Festival Scholarship, Amplify sponsorship, volunteering at St. Albert Food Bank / Community Village, assisting blood donor clinics, raising diabetes awareness, supporting the St. Albert Public Library, and manning Salvation Army kettles.
The St. Albert Host Lions Club is pleased to be part of Lions Club International, which is the largest service organization in the world.
