Sturgeon Animal Hospital

Sturgeon Animal Hospital

Dr. Rory Wiens, Veterinarian and owner of the Sturgeon Animal Hospital, is a board certified specialist in canine/feline practice – one of only three in Alberta. He has a special interest in ophthalmology (eye disorders).

“Opening my own small animal hospital allows me to ensure the quality and standards of care that our patients deserve,” says Dr. Wiens. “We provide wellness care to help pets live a longer, healthier life. We provide emergency care when your pet needs us the most, and we help strengthen the human-animal bond.”

He continues, “We strive to provide leading-edge medicine in a compassionate and professional manner. To serve you better we are relocating to a larger facility this fall which will further allow us to enhance our ability to care for our patients.”

Special measures are in place during the pandemic. While the doors are closed to the public and routine services are suspended, Dr. Wiens and his team are available for no-contact exams. Owners are asked to remain in the vehicle while the pet is examined. Payments are accepted online or over the phone. Humane pet euthanasia (max two family members present) is also available.

Steel House Doggy Daycare
Doggy Daycare & Kennels

Steel House Doggy Daycare

Steel House Doggy Daycare, a family owned and operated local business, is pleased to offer clients flexible 5, 10 and 20 day passes along with year-round kennel-free and traditional boarding. During the COVID-19 pandemic, group training classes are paused until it is safe to continue. However, Steel House is temporarily offering private-off leash dog park rentals every Saturday and Sunday so dogs and their owners can get the exercise they need while practicing safe social distancing.

“Kennel-free boarding is not offered at all facilities. We offer it because it is a great option for dogs that are well-adjusted and socialized as it replicates the home environment as closely as possible,” says Bridget Churchill, Owner and Manager. “We also offer traditional boarding options for dogs that are accustomed to sleeping in a kennel or prefer to have their space at night.”

She continues, “Our indoor space is almost 4,000 square feet and is divided into large and small dog areas to ensure the safety of all. We also have three quarters of an acre of securely fenced outdoor space. We use humane training and handling methods and we are an approved business of the Alberta Force Free Alliance.”

Steel House Doggy Daycare is located 5 minutes northwest of the St. Albert Costco.

Bone & Biscuit Co.
Pet Store

Bone & Biscuit Co.

The Bone & Biscuit provides high quality natural dog and cat food, treats, supplies, and pet accessories.

Before Tara Edwards, Owner/Operator of the St. Albert location, moved to the city, she had experience with the friendly staff and great products in the Grande Prairie store. “They not only provided us with good, natural products and supplies but they also helped educate us on the importance of providing our dog with a healthy diet to maintain a longer, healthier, and happier life,” says Tara. “We have seen this firsthand in our dog, Manny, as he still has the energy and bounce of a much younger dog. We have always been animal lovers and we are excited about being in the business of sharing this education with other pet owners.”

Tara continues, “We define quality by evaluating the ingredients, manufacturing techniques and nutritional value of every product on our shelves. The Bone & Biscuit’s principles of integrity, courtesy, teamwork, customer service, and knowledge set us apart from our competitors.”

The Bone & Biscuit’s St. Albert location has been proudly owned and operated as a family business by Tara since 2019. Learn more at online, or visit them on Facebook and Instagram.
