Paul McCartney at Rogers

If you’re a big fan of the Beatles, check out Paul McCartney’s new studio album, Egypt Station, arriving Sept. 7 on Capitol Records.

Sir Paul is also getting his face out there with the Freshen Up Tour 2018. His people have confirmed four Canadian dates starting in Quebec City on Sept. 17 and ending at Edmonton’s Rogers Place on Sept. 30.

The Edmonton date is his first appearance in the city since 2012. McCartney’s three-hour concert highlights Egypt Station as well as some of the greatest moments in the last 50 years of music including Sir Paul’s solo band Wings and the Beatles catalogue.

Tickets are $295 to $1,475. Processing fees are extra. Visit www.ticketmaster.ca.

Alberta Grown Music Festival

The inaugural Alberta Grown Music Festival is a three-day event from July 13 to 15 that showcases the talents of provincial musicians who have stuck to their roots and plied their craft locally.

Taking place this weekend at Stony Plain’s Heritage Park and Pavilion, the festival showcases 32 artists, including popular St. Albert country artist Darrell Barr and electronic loop artist Paul Woida.

Each night features a different headliner. Friday night salutes rock band The Static Shift. Saturday's country night puts Edmonton Music Award winners The Dungarees in the spotlight, and Sunday night blues singer Alfie Zappacosta caps the event.

RV parking is available. For artist info, map directions and tickets, visit www.albertagrownmusic.org.
