Ever watched an award show only to be stunned into disbelief by the choice jurors made? Well, this is your opportunity to have your say.

The organizers for the Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts Awards are searching for interested individuals willing to serve on a jury-selection committee.

Jurors would be required to read every artists’ nomination package on their own time followed by a meeting with other jurors to select the winning recipients.

“Ideally we would like to have five to seven jurors with experience in St. Albert’s arts community. You could be an artist, an administrator, a patron, an arts supporter or even a volunteer. We would hope the jurors know some of the nominees, but that doesn’t have to be the case,” said Tamsin Brooks, City of St. Albert community cultural coordinator.

It is recommended jurors have some experience in artistic disciplines such as theatre, dance, literary arts, music, visual arts, media arts, multidisciplinary arts or crafts.

Juror application forms are available at stalbert.ca/exp/arts-culture/mayors-celebration. The deadline to submit an application form is Friday, Jan. 17.

The Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts, together with Night of Artists, takes place on Thursday, March 19, at the Enjoy Centre.
