Canadian playwright Michael Healey does it again with Courageous, a play with two parallel stories running at the Citadel Theatre until Sunday, March 14.

In the first story, an openly gay Catholic justice refuses to wed two gay men on religious grounds. In the second story, a loser Canadian blows all his advantages while a Somali immigrant sets an example of good citizenship.

A co-production with Tarragon Theatre in Toronto, this two-act play looks at courage and what is required to stand up for your beliefs regardless of heritage, religious beliefs or sexual identity — especially when hypocrisy is involved.

Starring in Courageous are Ari Cohen, Michael Healey, Erin MacKinnon, Melissa MacPherson and Brandon McGibbon. Making their Citadel debut are Patrick McManus and Maurice Dean Wint.

Tickets range from $35 to $50. Call 780-425-1820 or go online to: www.citadeltheatre.com.

Amidst the hustle and bustle, the cook regales the kitchen maid and the scullion with stories and songs of young Arthur and how he became king.

Tickets range from $12.50 to $23.50. Call 780-409-1910 or visit www.fringetheatre.ca.

Boonstock is a popular three-day outdoor music festival that takes place on the wide-open plains right on the outskirts of Gibbons, about 40 minutes northeast of St. Albert.

Typically a warm weather fest, it runs June 24 to 26. Early bird tickets are available for $79.99. A complete artist list with accompanying photos and videos and tickets are available at www.boonstock.ca.
