Art Gallery of St. Albert
Reconciling Edmonton is an art exhibit produced by RISE – Reconciliation in Solidarity Edmonton. It is a collaboration between Métis poet Anna Marie Sewell, historian and writer Danielle Metcalfe-Chenail, visual artist Jennie Vegt and cultural connector Miranda Jimmy. Opening reception to be held 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9. Artists will be in attendance. Free exhibition tours will take place starting at 12:05 p.m. on both Thursday, Feb. 21, and Thursday, March 21. Until Saturday, March 30. Three supplemental events focusing on the exhibit, RISE, and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission will also take place on Feb. 13, Feb. 26, and March 16.
The Art Gallery of St. Albert has moved back to its newly renovated barrier-free permanent location at 19 Perron St. It will be hosting a First Look Party fundraiser from 6.30 to 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 7, and includes a limited first look and tour of the building plus opportunities to learn about the construction process. There will also be live music, appetizers and cash bar. Tickets are $100 each or $75 each for two or more tickets.
A grand reopening ceremony will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 9, as well. Part of the event will focus on the unveiling of a new public art piece called Bird has the Ways that was created by Paul Kane High School grad and visual artist Dylan Toymaker.

Black History Month
5 Artists 1 Love present an Art Showcase and The Barbershop Chronicles: Musical Tales from the Shops and Salons, both in conjunction with Black History Month.The Art Showcase brings together African-Canadian artists Shaihiem Small, Braxton Garneau, Adanna Onuekwusi, Anthony Ezeifedi, and Mario Griffith for exhibits at the Art Gallery of Alberta, the Scott Gallery, and the University of Alberta Augustana Campus Library. The Indigenous Artist Market Collective offers authentic, locally handcrafted works by three or four Indigenous artists at its booth every Saturday at the Edmonton Downtown Farmers Market, which has moved from its summer outdoor setting to inside Edmonton City Hall (on the north side of Churchill Square) every Saturday until May 11.
