For 40 years Pro Coro Canada has brought people together with songs and joy. Check out its 40th anniversary season special on Jan. 30 and 31.

Pro Coro Canada has etched itself into the Canadian fabric as one of the country’s major professional choirs. On Jan. 30 and 31, it celebrates a four-decade anniversary concert as “Laudi! 40 Years of Pro Coro.”

It was in January 1981 that Pro Coro Canada was first established as a society and performed its inaugural concert.

Artistic director Michael Zaugg and the singers of Pro Coro will share messages and greetings from past directors and colleagues interspersed with a series of soaring choral works spanning 500 years.

In keeping with the current pandemic, Zaugg’s first priority has been the health and safety of both the singers and audiences. With that in mind, the society has created its own Pro Coro TV channel where performances will be live-streamed throughout the season.

In addition, the site features music videos from a selection of works and provides entertaining and educational facts about choral music and different choir members.

“Laudi! 40 Years of Pro Coro” takes place Saturday between 7 p.m. and 9 p.m., and on Sunday between 2:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. To see the live-stream visit www.procoro.ca.
