Rosanne Cash is back in our neck of the woods on tour of She Remembers Everything, a rich, poetic and soulful collection of songs that explore our flawed and fragile world.

As part of a 30-stop North American tour, Cash is dropping by the Winspear Centre on Wednesday, Sept. 25.

She Remembers Everything follows Cash’s triple-Grammy winning 2014 album, The River & the Thread. This recent album marks a return to more personal songwriting after releasing three albums that explored her southern roots and heritage.

This album’s powerful material opens its arms to women’s narratives. Cash grew up in the 1960s and ’70s, hoping and believing that unequal pay and prejudice would fall away.

But in the last two years, she’s noticed a pressure cooker society growing where women are often still treated as second-class citizens in their professional and personal lives, and she decided to speak up.

“There is a woman’s real life, complex experiences and layered understanding in those songs,” says Cash. “I could not have written them 10 years ago – not even close. Time is shorter, I have more to say.”

Her husband-collaborator John Leventhal and Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Mavis Staples, Neko Case) produced She Remembers Everything.

Tickets are $45 to $55. Call 780-428-1414 or visit www.winspearcentre.com.
