The ungodly Ghost plays Rogers Place

Swedish doom rock band Ghost has announced a grim reaper styled North American six-week tour called the Ultimate Tour Named Death.

Swedish doom rock band Ghost has announced a grim reaper styled North American six-week tour called the Ultimate Tour Named Death.

The original 25-date odyssey just added seven more arena dates including three Canadian shows in Hamilton, Ottawa and Edmonton’s Rogers Place.

American alt-rockers Nothing More are slated as the opening act for the entire tour.

This tour is an offshoot of the hugely successful A Pale Tour Named Death, that simply left head bangers screaming for more.

This tour continues to promote the release of Ghost’s fourth album, the Grammy nominated rock album, Prequelle. In support of the tour, the album’s third single, Faith, just went to rock radio following Prequelle’s two previous singles, Rats and Dance Macabre.

In less than a decade, Ghost has earned a Grammy, released four albums, two EPs and a live album.

Much of the outfit’s success is due to Tobias Forge nicknamed “the Andrew Lloyd Webber of rock.” He is Ghost’s creative force, singer, songwriter, musician and architect of elaborate storylines woven through the albums.

The tour will showcase an massive theatrical production and a stage resembling a medieval cathedral with a backdrop of illuminated stained glass windows. Rich costumes, special effects and an arena light show highlight the multi-level platforms.

Ghost plays Rogers Place on Monday Sept. 23. Public tickets go on sale Friday, May 24 at 10 a.m. Tickets at www.ticketmaster.ca.
