Cirque du Soleil

Edmonton audiences always thrill at seeing a Cirque du Soleil production. And the new ice extravaganza dubbed Axel is no exception.

This new high-energy show, slated for July 2 to 5, 2020 at Rogers Place, features world-class skating, stunning acrobatics, a mesmerizing laser show and a catchy soundtrack.

Axel is a young graphic artist and musician who falls in love with the captivating Lei. Their nemesis is Vi, a super villain who steals light. In this epic odyssey, the two lovers jet off on a quest to reclaim the light.

Cirque focuses on free-style skating with a fresh look at traditional pairs, solos and adagio work.

Tickets for the general public go on sale Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 10 a.m. at cirquedusoleil.com/axel.

Stars on Ice

Canadians have a way of championing their skating Olympians long after their competition days are over.

Once again Stars on Ice with its galaxy of international stars returns for an all-new 2020 tour that brings back longtime favourites such as Kurt Browning, Elvis Stojko, Patrick Chan and Kaetlyn Osmond.

The tour stops at Rogers Place on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at 4 p.m. Presale tickets are on sale now until Dec. 5 at ticketmaster.ca.
