‘We Were That Song’ takes home the hardware

Brett Kissel takes home second Juno Award for Album of the Year

Country recording artist Brett Kissel won Country Album of the Year at the 2019 Juno Awards this past Sunday in London, Ont.

His album, We Were That Song, beat out Jess Moskaluke, Meghan Patrick, Tim Hicks and The Reklaws.

During a live broadcast from Budweiser Gardens, Kissel thanked his wife, Cecelia, and waved his Stetson at the cheering crowd.

“Country music is killing it this year, and I love you all, I really do,” he said to the crowd with a big grin.

This is the singer-songwriter’s second Juno. He received a 2014 Juno Award as Breakthrough Artist of the Year, and in 2016 was nominated for the album Pick Me Up.

Kissel, who lived in St. Albert for one year after relocating from the family’s Flat Lake ranch, now lives in Nashville with his wife and three children.
