Bow Valley: Tips to Beat the Gas Prices & Show Mama Earth Some Love This Summer

It’s certainly no secret that gas prices have shot through the roof recently. If the prices aren’t impacting you personally, we’re willing to bet they’re affecting your small talk topics.
11-2 SE Gas Mother earth

Beyond the prices of gas, the Bow Valley tends to get pretty bustling in the summer months, so it can be tricky to find parking or get where you need to go quickly. Rather than breaking the bank on gas or wasting time hunting for parking, the Bow Valley has many alternative transportation options that are good for your bank account and mother earth.

Get Your Steps in

While walking may not be an option for everyone, it’s a fantastic way to get the most of your summer days, take in more of your surroundings, and get your body moving all at once. Both Banff and Canmore have blocked off portions of their main streets for pedestrians, so exploring the towns on foot has never been easier.

Enjoy Life on Two Wheels

Canmore and Banff are stacked with amazing bike paths and bike-friendly infra- structure. Biking is a beautiful way to get from A to B without worrying about gas or parking. You can hop on a standard, manual bike or consider renting an e-bike from one of the great local shops. Four wheels are just overkill, aren’t they?

Public Transit

If you’re looking for an affordable transportation option, you can’t get much better than this. Roam transit is the Bow Valley’s public transport which operates in both Canmore and Banff and between the two. The best part? Canmore offers free transportation, while Banff is free for residents of the mountain community.

The More, the Merrier

If you simply can’t avoid driving, you might as well fill those seats! Carpooling is a great way to cut down on gas and save some parking spots in town. If you and your friends are headed to the same place, you might as well enjoy the journey together.
