LETTER: Mass destruction of trees along city trails 'senseless'

'Please, if anyone knows the reasons for this utter destruction, let us know.'

We love our neighbourhood. We bought a house along the wooded trails in the "Botanical City."

We planned to have family pictures in the fall along some of the most beautiful trails in the city. We were shocked and saddened when the chainsaws began. We rationalized it and said it must be the pine beetle or Dutch elm disease. We were surprised to see that it was every tree, not just select ones.

We are anxiously waiting our turn to wake up to the Erin Ridge chainsaw massacre. More senseless violence in the world is not what we need. Please, if anyone knows the reasons for this utter destruction, let us know. City council has provided residents with no information.
