Yes, indeed, let’s drop the “Grandin” from all things named Grandin. Remember to force the bakery to change its name if it does not do so voluntarily.
Now, while we are at it, let’s do some more house-cleaning and name-changing. It is certain that, in time and with enough digging, the following people will be found to have sinned against someone: Octave Bellerose, Lucien Boudreau, any one of several Cunninghams, Hector Gervais, Ray Gibbon, and any of the other notables for whom our streets and roads have been named.
I refer you to the 2018 publication, A History of Street Names in St. Albert. Then we can go on and rename a bunch of schools that were named in honour of people who were at one time considered admirable but whom, after all, were just human and were therefore blemished — Bertha Kennedy, Richard Fowler, Marie Poburan, etc.
Finally, think of the sins that may have been committed by Saint Albert of Louvain. He was martyred in 1192. For sure, someone did not like him.
