The May 6, 2021, fire that decimated the adult complex of Citadel Mews West was and is a tragedy, the impact of which will continue to be experienced by residents, staff, and families alike far into the future. While the cause of this fire has not yet been released, hence closure not yet attainable, its impact in tearing apart a community, eliminating the personal history of residents, and destroying the simple enjoyment of everyday living is indeed known and felt.

In the face of this ongoing tragedy, many individuals, families, corporations, and volunteers, without hesitation, stepped forward and provided support to those impacted by the fire. The incredible generosity, compassion, and consideration shown by these individuals, families, corporations, and volunteers made a huge, demonstrable difference and truly were appreciated. They provided much needed hope and light during the gloom of the disaster. To these people, these families, these corporations, these volunteers, a heartfelt thank you on behalf of the former residents of Citadel Mews West. You made the difference.

Brian Napier, St. Albert
