While students continue to learn from home, art students from three of St. Albert's high schools are contributing to with.draw.all, which has been posted to the Gazette’s website every second week. This is the final instalment in this series.

Medium: Collage

Artist statement: “When I was making this piece, my main inspiration came from two people: one of whom makes me laugh endlessly, the other of whom helped shape the person I am today. I thought it would be a cool concept and I’m super proud of how it turned out!”

Matthew MalinArtist: Matthew Malin

Medium: Installation

Artist statement: “Recently I was offered a goalie spot on Northern Alberta Extreme’s Midget Prep team, which is an opportunity of a lifetime for me. Since then, I have been eagerly and impatiently anticipating the upcoming season, unable to get on the ice due to lockdown. I saw my lawn as a clean canvas and an outlet for my excitement to play for my new team, so I mowed the team’s logo into the lawn.”

Olivia ColbourneArtist: Olivia Colbourne

Medium: Ink
Artist statement: “This piece is simple, representing how inactive life is at the moment. The girl in the drawing is dressed in comfy clothes and messy hair showing how most people are living now that we barely go out. And finally, it also represents calmness in times of chaos.”

Artist statement: “Art has helped me to stay connected to my friends and school during isolation. I have been able to continue to send my work to my art teacher which has allowed me to continue to create. With her tips and guidance, it almost feels as if school were operating under normal conditions. I have also had many outdoor and social distanced hang outs with friends which involved either sketching or painting together as a way to be with each other and create safely.”
