Art Gallery of St. Albert

Haven features works by Noemi de Bruijn, David Scott, and Wendy Struck. It opens Thursday, Dec. 5. Opening reception from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7. Artists will be in attendance. Exhibition tours are set to take place starting at 12:05 p.m. on both Thursday, Dec. 19 and Thursday, Jan. 16, 2020. Exhibit runs until Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020.

The Vault now features Brain Storm, a peek into the sketchbooks of some of St. Albert's talented high school art students. Until Saturday, Dec. 14.

The current Staircase Feature Artist is Alex Janvier with a selection of his works from the Collection of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts on display until Saturday, Dec. 7. The next feature artist will be Terry McCue who will have new works on display from Tuesday, Dec. 10, until Saturday, March 7, 2020.

Visual Arts Studio Association

The All Members' Winter Show starts on Tuesday, Dec. 3. Opening reception during its Merry Masquerade fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5. Artists will be in attendance. See details under Upcoming Events. Until Saturday, Dec. 21.

Doris Charest has an exhibit in the Corridor Gallery through December.

St. Albert Public Library

In continuing its support of ArtWalk, the library will be featuring new works of art by a different artist or artists every month. December's featured artist is Frank van Veen with a selection of works from his recent VASA show Hard Edge/Soft Touch. Until Tuesday, Dec. 31.

Women’s Art Museum

Alcove Gallery

The new rotation of artworks is now on display for the Edmonton Arts Council’s third-annual public art project. Look for new works on various billboard and LRT poster locations throughout the capital city.

Upcoming events and news

VASA presents its Merry Masquerade fundraiser from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5, during the opening reception for the All Members' Show. The event will feature a silent auction, door prizes, a cash bar and a photo booth, plus Lewis Lavoie will be live painting with the work being auctioned off that night. An assortment of masks will be available for purchase at the door. Fancy dresses and suits are not mandatory but encouraged. Inside Scoop is the Art Gallery of St. Albert's free talk on how to prepare successful submissions for art exhibit proposals. It runs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12. Call 780-460-4310 or email [email protected] for more information.

Father Douglas will be one of the featured artists in the Art Gallery of Alberta's Small Works Sale running until Jan. 11, 2020.
