St. Albert has 39 active cases of COVID-19 in the city, a drop of six from 45 active cases on Tuesday.

The active case count is currently the lowest the city has seen since mid-October.

In the past 24 hours, another three new cases were diagnosed in the city, with another nine people recovering from the virus.

In Sturgeon County, there are currently 17 active cases, a drop of one active case since Tuesday.

Morinville remains at eight active cases.

Across Alberta, there were another 277 new cases of COVID-19 diagnosed after 7,500 tests were run. The provincial positivity rate sits at 3.9 per cent.

There are currently active alerts or outbreaks in 260 schools, or 11 per cent of all schools in the province. Since Jan. 11, there have been 862 COVID-19 cases linked to schools.

There are 370 people in the hospital with COVID-19 with 60 of then in intensive care.

Alberta Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said hospitalizations have plateaued over the past few days.

There have been seven more deaths reported in the province from COVID-19.

Hinshaw encouraged all Albertans to work with contact tracers if they contract COVID-19 as there has been a small but significant increase in Albertans not co-operating with contract tracing.

Hinshaw said last year in December, fewer than one per cent of those contacted did not participate in contact tracing, compared with 1.9 per cent in January and 1.3 per cent in February.

As of Feb. 16, 152,056 vaccine doses have been given out.
