The City of St. Albert is inviting residents to a special event on May 2 to celerate the newest addition to Art in Public Places. Bird Has The Ways, by Dylan Toymaker, helps highlight how rich St. Albert's culture is.

The event will be part of a double header to celebrate culture in St. Albert. A demonstration for the City’s Cultural Assets Story Map will also take place on May 2.

“Introducing residents to the Cultural Map and Bird Has The Ways as part of ArtWalk highlights how culturally rich St. Albert is,” Mayor Cathy Heron stated in a news release. “It also emphasizes how important community is to our local arts scene.”

The city says the cultural map identifies and documents the cultural resources in St. Albert and currently features more than 170 assets. Those are sorted into seven categories, including arts and heritage organizations, cultural industries, and cultural and natural heritage.

"During ArtWalk, residents will discover the new Cultural Map through the first-ever public demonstrations of the web application," the news release stated.

Already illuminated in the night along St. Anne Street is the recently completed glass railing for the Art Gallery of St. Albert’s new access ramp. The artwork for the ramp was created by light and installation Artist, Dylan Toymaker, titled Bird Has The Ways.

The city says ArtWalk participants will be able to create their own illumination-based artwork through a lantern-making activity, where they will experience creating with light.
