The City of St. Albert is closing certain front counter facilities as of Tuesday for a second time amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Starting Dec.1, some city front counter services will be available by appointment only. City administration buildings are still open, but residents are asked to call 780-459-1500 before visiting.

Kerry Hilts, chief deputy administrative officer, said the measures were formed in consideration of St. Albert's rising case numbers and new provincial restrictions.

"We're having to look at being able to provide those opportunities again to the public in more creative, flexible ways. It's really about health and safety," Hilts said. "These are very proactive measures that we can take that will benefit everybody."

Places with appointment-only services include Beaudry Place, Community Services in St. Albert Place, the Jack Kraft facility building and the RCMP building. This includes other front counters in St. Albert Place, such as the Chief Administration Officer Office, Mayor’s Office, and Planning and Development.

The Arden Theatre and Fire Hall #3 are closed to the public with phone and online services only.

Some front counter services will still be available in-person. This includes the customer service desk on the main floor of St. Albert Place, Fountain Park Recreation Centre and Servus Place.

Some services available in-person at St. Albert Place are also available online at Online Services. Here's what you can do online:
