St. Albert has 19 new active COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours in the city, bringing the total number of people currently diagnosed with the virus to 163.
According to provincial numbers released Thursday, 14 more people in the city have recovered.
Across the province, 1,105 new cases were diagnosed on Thursday, a new daily high for the province. The previous highest number of cases was diagnosed on Saturday with 1,026 new COVID-19 cases.
There have been 42,797 total cases diagnosed provincewide since the beginning of the pandemic, with 10,382 active cases.
In the past 24 hours there have been eight additional deaths. One person in their 90s, three people in their 80s, three people in their 70s and one man in his 30s lost their lives.
There are currently 284 people in the hospital, with 61 people in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). Yesterday, there were 287 people in the hospital with 57 people in the ICU.
The province said they were creating 10 additional ICU beds in the Edmonton zone last week and 10 more will be ready by the end of this week.
In Calgary, some 20 additional ICU beds are being created.
The province did not have any testing data available on Thursday.
Sturgeon County has 52 active cases and Morinville has 21 active cases.
