Crouse dominated all but three polls

Poll-by-poll election results show Mayor Nolan Crouse was favoured by roughly 70 per cent of voters across all the areas of St. Albert, except for the polling station that served residents from Kingswood, Pineview and Akinsdale.

Poll-by-poll election results show Mayor Nolan Crouse was favoured by roughly 70 per cent of voters across all the areas of St. Albert, except for the polling station that served residents from Kingswood, Pineview and Akinsdale.

There, only 58 per cent of the voters favoured Crouse while 42 per cent chose Shelley Biermanski.

Citywide, Crouse received 67.8 per cent of the votes to Biermanski's 31.2 per cent. Just 34 per cent of eligible electors chose to vote.

Crouse's best area was Woodlands, which supported him at the rate of 74 per cent. Lacombe Park and Erin Ridge were next at 73 per cent. He also earned 79 per cent from institutional voting, which includes people in nursing homes.

Biermanski's best area by far was Kingswood, Pineview and Akinsdale at 42 per cent. Her next best was 32 per cent in downtown/Mission. She also got 39 per cent of the votes cast at advance polls.

Residents in the Akinsdale neighbourhood, where Biermanski lives, spearheaded an anti-council ad campaign during the election and complained loudly during the ongoing battle over an affordable housing project at 70 Arlington Dr.

Among council candidates, Cathy Heron was the top council vote-getter at every polling station except Kingswood, Pineview and Akinsdale. Those voters favoured Cam MacKay.

Heron consistently drew 13 per cent of the votes at every station except Kingswood-Pineview-Akinsdale, where she dropped to 11 per cent. Heron also drew the top number of votes in the advance polls, capturing 12 per cent.

MacKay said his message of better neighbourhood rights resonated best in certain areas, such as Akinsdale and Kingswood.

Roger Lemieux was the favoured council candidate among institutional voters, garnering 14 per cent of the votes. Len Bracko was next at 13 per cent.

St. Albert's polling stations combined two or three neighbourhoods so results by specific neighbourhood aren't available.
