Drug charges laid against two from Edmonton area

Two Edmonton-area people have been charged with numerous drug-related offences following a search of a Beaver County property.

St. Albert RCMP said its drug unit executed the search warrant Oct. 18 with the help of the Parkland County RCMP drug unit, RCMP Police Dog Services and Tofield RCMP.

RCMP seized $4,295, more than 11 ounces of methamphetamine, 2.5 litres of GHB, 153 capsules of Gabapentin, a stick of dynamite, some psilocybin, two stolen trailers, one firearm and a 2015 Chrysler 200.

Denise Larouche, 39, and Barry Magille, 42, both from the Edmonton area, have multiple charges against them. Both have been charged with three counts of possessing a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, possessing proceeds of crime under $5,000, possessing an explosive, two firearms offences, property obtained by crime over $5,000 and two counts of tampering with a vehicle identification number (VIN).

Larouche was also charged with two counts of weapons possession contrary to order.

Magille has also been charged with two counts of criminal flight, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, committing an assault to prevent arrest, four counts of driving while disqualified, failing to stop for a peace officer, speeding and failing to signal.

Both individuals have a court appearance set for Nov. 4 in St. Albert.

The RCMP said the search warrant was executed in relation to a drug trafficking investigation which involved the assistance of the North Region Sheriff Investigative Support Unit.
