Henday road closures expected tonight

Drivers using Anthony Henday Drive will hit a major roadblock tonight, but the pain will be short-lived.

Drivers using Anthony Henday Drive will hit a major roadblock tonight, but the pain will be short-lived.

As part of the ongoing ring road project, the road will be closed between Yellowhead Trail and 137 Avenue, also closing off the road to Ray Gibbon Drive.

The closure will start tonight at 9 p.m. and will re-open before rush hour Thursday at 6 a.m.

“This is so they can continue some of the work on the roadway itself,” said Heather Kazuba, spokesperson for Alberta Transportation.

Kazuba said the road is going to re-open on time on Thursday morning and they aren’t anticipating any further closures in that area for the road project.

Ray Gibbon Drive will still be open north of 137 Avenue all the way to its end point in St. Albert and there will be no impact on traffic on Yellowhead Trail and 137 Avenue.
