For many people it is way too early to be thinking about Santa Claus making his rounds. There are, however, a growing number of local homeowners who are already getting ready to host a whole bunch of houseguests.
The Homes for Christmas Tour is gearing up for its fourth run during the first weekend in December. Those three days still require months of advance planning and organizers have noticed a trend of growing interest not just from attendees but hosts as well.
Leslie MacEachern, executive director of the St. Albert Senior Citizens’ Club, has put out the call to determine who the next batch of home locations will be.
“Seeing as snow is in the forecast I guess it’s time to start talking about Homes for Christmas,” she laughed.
There are only so many spots available and already she feels like competition will be fierce.
“I would love to be in the position to have to choose,” she explained, talking about how she has already heard from a several individuals. “It sounds like that might be where we’re at this year is to choose the homes because so many people are going to be excited to be involved. We’re even taking a look at groups of friends or schools that are interested in possibly [being involved]. Anybody that’s enthusiastic to be part of the event would be fantastic.”
The event is an awareness and fundraising event for the club’s many programs, services and resources. Apart from boosting the festive spirits, it also gives the lucky chosen ones the rare opportunity to have their homes professionally decorated by local designers and stores.
This year’s event will include a new gala party on Dec. 1 that will also include a fashion show with local models showing off holiday attire. More details about that event will come later.
Anyone who wants to learn more about the event or become one of the host locations should call the seniors’ club at 780-459-0433 or visit www.stalbertseniorsclub.org. MacEachern said that she hopes to have the final selections made by the end of this week.
