"With COVID-19, there's been a lot of worries with everyone. I think it's time to have some fun," Danny Getzlaf stated, adding on a serious note that ALS is a very deadly disease that comes with an average prognosis of mortality within two to five years. Getzlaf himself was diagnosed three years ago.

ALS SOCIETY OF ALBERTA/Photo This screenshot of a video posted to the ALS Society of Alberta's social media page last Friday shows Morinville's Danny Getzlaf giving himself a frosty shower in the revived tradition of the Ice Bucket Challenge.

Danny Getzlaf must have felt fairly refreshed after emptying a five-gallon pail of ice water over his own head.

On a video posted on the ALS Society of Alberta's Facebook page late last week, the Morinville man took the dunk to boost donations to the non-profit organization and to help bring a little levity back into people's lives.

"With COVID-19, there's been a lot of worries with everyone. I think it's time to have some fun," he stated, adding on a serious note that ALS is a very deadly disease that comes with an average prognosis of mortality within two to five years. Getzlaf himself was diagnosed three years ago.

The ALS Society of Alberta shared the video to encourage others to do their own and share them across social media in an effort to spread good cheer and help raise some funds too.

By the way, you should watch the whole video, which includes a really grand slo-mo replay that perfectly captures Getzlaf's reaction to the frosty bath.
