Man faces charges for ramming car off highway at high speed in Sturgeon County

A concerned citizen and the victim himself both reported a red coloured older Ford truck that had rammed the victim's car off the highway at high speeds into an adjacent ditch. The suspect then continued ramming the victim's car several more times before fleeing.

An investigation into a February incident in Sturgeon County where a truck rammed a car off the highway and continued ramming it before fleeing has yielded numerous charges against a suspect.

Jason Boutilier faces charges of assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failing to remain at the scene of an accident, and committing mischief to property endangering life.

He has been granted bail with conditions and is due to appear in Morinville provincial court on April 29.

The RCMP said it responded to a call to service Feb. 14 for an incident on Hwy. 2 and Twp. Rd. 552 in Sturgeon County. A concerned citizen and the victim himself both reported a red coloured older Ford truck that had rammed the victim's car off the highway at high speeds into an adjacent ditch. The suspect then continued ramming the victim's car several more times before fleeing.

Morinville RCMP worked with K Division's auto theft unit, forensic identification section and interview assistance team, as well as the Parkland RCMP, to determine who the suspect was.
