Morinville girl hit by vehicle in crosswalk while walking to school

An eight-year-old Morinville girl was struck by a vehicle Monday morning while walking to school.

RCMP say the girl was hit by a minivan and was taken to hospital. She suffered serious injuries but is in stable condition.

The girl was walking in a marked crosswalk in the area of 100 Street and 101 Avenue around 8:20 a.m.

The girl was driven to a local hospital and then picked up by STARS air ambulance.

The RCMP have not laid any charges yet and the investigation is still underway.
