Morinville RCMP investigating fatal head-on collision

Morinville RCMP is investigating a collision that killed one person on Wednesday.

RCMP said in a media release it responded to a serious two-vehicle collision on Hwy. 28 near Range Road 241 on July 8 at 4:42 p.m.

A car travelling eastbound on Hwy. 28 collided head-on with a semi-truck travelling westbound. Despite efforts to provide first aid, the lone occupant of the car, a 50-year-old male from Fort McMurray, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Traffic was rerouted on Hwy. 28 while Morinville RCMP completed a scene examination and the highway was cleared. At approximately 8 p.m., the highway was re-opened for travel.

The investigation into this collision is ongoing. RCMP will not issue a further update.
