St. Albert RCMP and the RCMP Major Crimes Unit have laid a murder charge in the death of Ronald Worsfold. The 75-year-old went missing on the weekend and his body was discovered on Sunday in a rural area of Parkland County near Stony Plain.

The autopsy confirmed that the manner of his death was homicide. The RCMP Major Crimes Unit has now charged 28-year-old Beryl Musila from St. Albert with first degree murder and indignity to human remains.

Investigators also confirmed that the theft of Mr. Worsfold's Toyota Corolla, which coincidentally occurred only five days before his disappearance last Friday, was not connected with his death or disappearance. It was recovered on Monday by members of the Edmonton Police Service.

The RCMP thanked the public for its efforts and support in bringing this investigation to a quick conclusion, offering its condolences to Worsfold’s family and friends.

Musila is scheduled to make an appearance in Sherwood Park Provincial Court on Wednesday.
