Dale Nally will be the face of the Morinville-St. Albert UCP in the upcoming provincial election.

Some 630 party members in the riding voted Tuesday and Wednesday night on which candidate in that riding will face off against the NDP in 2019.

The 15-year St. Albert resident defeated former Wildrose candidate and two-term Morinville councillor Joe Gosselin, three-term Legal councillor Trina Jones, two-term councillor for the town of Gibbons Amber Harris and former mayor of Sturgeon County Don Rigney.

Nally is seeking to become the MLA for the new riding of Morinville-St. Albert, which encompasses regions of three former ridings: St. Albert, Barrhead-Morinville-Westlock and Athabasca-Sturgeon-Redwater.

The NDP has yet to select its candidate for that riding. To date, Shawna Gawreluck is the only registered candidate seeking the party nomination.
