St. Albert is still sitting at 30 cases of people who have been diagnosed COVID-19, the same number Alberta Health Services (AHS) reported Monday when it announced a "small outbreak" at the Sturgeon Community Hospital.

Six people are considered active cases, while 24 have recovered.

On Monday, AHS said someone who had been a patient at the Sturgeon Community Hospital had tested positive for COVID-19, prompting the health organization to declare a "small" outbreak at that hospital.

AHS stated the case is considered an outbreak at the Sturgeon because the individual may have acquired COVID-19 while they were in the hospital. The case is being investigated.

The latest figures from the province show Sturgeon County has had 12 cases of people diagnosed with the virus, 10 of whom have recovered.

On Tuesday, Alberta chief medical officer of health Dr. Deena Hinshaw said there had been 154 new cases of people with COVID-19 across the province since Monday, bringing the total number of Albertans confirmed to have contracted the virus to 4,850. Five more Albertans have died since Monday.
