A pedestrian was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries this morning after being hit by a vehicle while crossing the road at the Bellerose Drive and Boudreau Road intersection, RCMP said.

St. Albert RCMP responded to a single-vehicle collision involving the pedestrian at about 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 27, RCMP said in a statement.

"The motor vehicle was making a left turn onto Bellerose Drive from Boudreau Road and struck a pedestrian who was crossing in the marked crosswalk at the intersection of Boudreau Road, walking northbound," RCMP said in the statement.

"The pedestrian was transported to hospital by ground ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries."

Const. MJ Burroughs, with the St. Albert RCMP detachment, told The Gazette impaired driving was not believed to be factor, and the collision is under investigation.

The RCMP is not planning to release the pedestrian's name, age, or gender.

"St. Albert RCMP want to remind drivers now that fall is here, the days are getting shorter and the sun is rising later each day. Drivers need to be mindful of this and remain vigilant of their surroundings," the RCMP release said.

"Pedestrians also need to make sure they are visible to drivers at all times and make eye contact with drivers whenever possible before crossing intersections/roadways."
