RCMP have charged a 73-year-old St. Albert man with sexual assault in connection with a child.
Edward Winwood of St. Albert was charged with sexual assault and sexual interference on Aug. 9 after an investigation, St. Albert RCMP said in a statement released Aug. 17.
The victim is a child under the age of 12.
Winwood has been released from police custody with conditions, and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 12, according to the release.
"As these matters are now before the courts, no further details surrounding these charges can be provided," RCMP said in the release.
RCMP believe there may be more potential victims and are encouraging them or their guardians to come forward.
