Simon Boersma defeats incumbent mayor Barry Turner in Morinville

Incumbent council candidates Rebecca Balanko, Stephen Dafoe, and Scott Richardson won their seats back.

Five-term council and mayoral candidate Barry Turner lost the mayor's chair to new candidate Simon Boersma on Monday night. 

Morinville is reporting their unofficial results with Boersma pulling in 1,681 votes (46 per cent) and Turner scoring only 733 (20.2 per cent) out of the 3,625 voters that came to the polls.

Incumbent council candidates Rebecca Balanko, Stephen Dafoe, and Scott Richardson won their seats back. 

Incumbents Nicole Boutestein and Sarah Hall lost their seats. 

Newcomers Ray White, Maurice St. Denis, and Jenn Anheliger will round out council in the town.
