St. Albert adds another 26 COVID-19 cases over the weekend

Active cases increased by three to 189, with 23 more St. Albertans recovering from the virus.

St. Albert counted another 26 COVID-19 cases over the weekend, while 23 more people recovered, bringing active cases in the city up by three to 189.

Sturgeon County saw an increase in active cases from 95 on Friday to 104 on Monday, marking an increase of nine active cases.

Morinville currently has 60 active cases, a 10-case jump from the 50 reported on Friday.

Across Alberta another 1,391 cases of COVID-19 were diagnosed overnight, after 12,588 tests were run for a positivity rate of 11 per cent.

The province has identified another 1,160 cases of the variant overnight and variants now make up 56.8 per cent of active cases.

There are currently 460 people in the hospital with 104 of them in intensive care.

As of April 18, 1,165,223 vaccine doses have been distributed in the province.
