St. Albert to host first annual job fair

Those looking for a new job are in luck: the City of St. Albert is hosting its first annual St. Albert Job Fair on April 16 at the St. Albert Inn and Suites.

Those looking for a new job are in luck: the City of St. Albert is hosting its first annual St. Albert Job Fair on April 16 at the St. Albert Inn and Suites.

During the event, people will get to browse through 40 booths of potential employers and institutions wanting to recruit.

The room will also be sectioned off to meet the different needs of attendees, such as resume support, discovering a career path and talking with entrepreneurs in the region who have started their own business.

“One of the things we wanted to do was support local job seekers and connect (them) with local employers,” said Dianne Gillespie, community development co-ordinator with the City of St. Albert.

When arriving at the free event, people should have an updated resume in hand.

As for employers, the city still has around 20 tables left to fill. For $50, employers can arrive early for breakfast and to hear from motivational speaker Dennis Cuku, co-founder of the Mosaic Family of Companies.

Cuku, who was one of Avenue Magazine’s Top 40 under 40 in 2015, centres his talks around self-improvement, mental health and sustainable development.

In order to qualify, employers must have jobs available. Institutions registered at the event must also provide employment services to the community.

The event takes place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, contact Gillespie at [email protected].
