The number of people who currently have COVID-19 in St. Albert rose again this past week.

Numbers released by the province Monday afternoon put St. Albert's active case count at 29, nearly double the 16 cases it reported this time last week.

So far, the city has seen a total of 105 infections. Seventy-five people have recovered and one person has died.

Mayor Cathy Heron stated on Facebook that the increased cases was expected with the arrival of cooler weather and school.

"It is more important than ever to remain calm, vigilant, and continue to observe measures that slow the spread," she wrote.

She added it is still safe to go out and shop or eat, as long as precautions are taken. Anyone who feels ill should stay home.
