Are you friendly, outgoing and want to have some fun for a great cause? Volunteer at this one-day event on June 20 and help raise funds and awareness for cancers below the waist. Assist with race packet preparation, registration, event flow monitors, welcome team, parking, assisting on the course, helping out with check-in points and motivating the walkers and runners participating in the event. Minimum age for volunteers is 12 years of age. This is a great opportunity for families, groups and clubs to volunteer together.

Do you enjoy books and working with children of all ages? Help children go through the summer reading game, assisting them with various activities along the way. Volunteers must have completed a minimum of Grade 8. Program runs June 25 to Aug. 17. Morning, afternoon and evening shifts available, approximately three or four hours each, with lots of flexibility to fit with your schedule and summer holidays.

More than 1,000 athletes with intellectual disabilities from all over Alberta will converge on St. Albert for these games from June 26 to 28 and many volunteers are needed to help make it a success. Choose from a wide variety of roles such as officials, judges, security, chauffeurs, marshals, medical, registrars, food services, hosts, set up and take down at sites. Be a part of helping these athletes reach their goals and a part of the Provincial Games’ experience.

Be a part of this very popular Edmonton summer festival as it celebrates its 25th anniversary! There are a wide variety of volunteer positions available including ticket sellers, selling Groceries and Gas For Life raffle tickets, greeters at all entry sites, information booth, security, volunteer tent and helping at the Safeway Family Pancake Breakfast. Festival takes place July 17 to 26, 2009. Many four-hour shifts to choose from.

This organization is celebrating Poundmaker's 36th and Nechi's 35th anniversaries this summer with a powwow July 17 to 19 at the Poundmaker Lodge grounds in St. Albert. Volunteers are needed for various positions such as security, grounds patrol, clean-up, concession booths, first aid and general assistance.

This agency provides support through compassion, education and friendship to those who have lost a loved one through death and is looking for a volunteer to become a board member and to help with computer work. Primary responsibilities will include updating brochures, website updates and other computer work as required. This virtual volunteer can do most of the work at home. Hours are flexible.

Volunteer at one of our community’s major heritage sites — St. Albert Grain Elevator Park. Special events include Dominion Day on July 1 and the Aug. 29 Harvest Fest, where you will be assisting with children’s programming for the afternoon. Minimum age is 13 years of age.
