The St. Albert Community Information & Volunteer Centre has many volunteer opportunities to choose from and can help find the right fit for you. Help this children's wish granting organization by assisting with some year-end data entry projects. This short-term project work will be done in the office during regular office hours, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. one day per week, Monday through Friday, until Dec. 31.

Help bring hope and the magic of the festive season to those on low incomes and in need. In preparation for the upcoming holiday events, assistance is needed to help receive and sort donations and gifts, Dec. 6 to 21. Volunteers also needed for the actual festive event to help supervise stations and help families accessing the donations and gifts, Dec. 22 to 24.

Assist this organization with sorting food and toys and putting together Christmas hampers. Work will involve lifting lighter objects, sorting, packing and lots of smiling as you help others in need! The work bee happens Dec. 12, 14 and 15.

Assist this organization to provide much needed community youth programs and services. In this role, you will provide guidance and leadership to the organization in financial matters, including budget preparation, business accounting and reporting. A CA, CMA or CGA designation is required.

In this upcoming season of giving, volunteer to support this organization that helps so many in need all year. From Nov. 21 to Dec. 24, volunteer to help accept donations at various St. Albert locations. Shifts are two hours each.

Share your gift of listening, good conversation and favourite activities such as cards and board games. Volunteers needed to visit clients in their homes. Provide that much needed connection with the community for those who are isolated and lonely and brighten someone’s day as you visit with a senior or a person with a disability in their home.

This vibrant community’s 150th anniversary is in 2011 and planning is under way for yearlong celebrations that will cherish the past, honour the present and ignite the spirit of the future. Volunteers needed to sit on the following sub-committees and help plan these celebrations: communications and marketing, volunteer recruitment and co-ordination, partner support, sponsorship, gala events, cultural event planning for a homecoming, a river valley picnic and a heritage camp event. If you have planning experience in one or more of these areas and some time to assist, call and join the team.
