Be a part of the Relay For Life and help celebrate cancer survivors, remember loved ones lost to cancer and find a cure for the disease June 19 and 20 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. Volunteers currently needed for project work and help organizing the event. Many volunteers needed on event day in a variety of roles. Help show St. Albert’s community spirit by lending a hand as this major charity event comes to St. Albert for the first time ever.

Help this seniors’ centre provide support and fellowship to the seniors in our community by volunteering as a cook in its kitchen. Duties include food preparation, service of food, supplies ordering and purchasing and inventory counts. Volunteer once a week or more often if you’d like.

Prevent Alcohol and Risk Related Trauma in Youth (PARTY) — help a team of committed community members present this hard hitting and informative program to today's youth at the Grade 9 level. The focus is to impact on youth the consequences of making bad choices and to prevent tragedy. Medical background would be an asset but not necessary.

The Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games are coming to St. Albert in 2011 and are seeking individuals for two chairperson positions. The communications chair will develop a communications network for the games, determine equipment requirements and manage the security volunteers; the food centre chair will handle food requirements for the games’ participants and volunteers and oversee the food volunteers.

Do you have some time to share each week with an individual in need of some companionship? Share your gift of listening and good conversation as you visit the client at home. Choose from one of the following one-on-one opportunities — a weekly afternoon visit with a housebound individual who enjoys conversation and playing cards, or a weekly afternoon visit with a senior who enjoys hobbies such as crochet and knitting.

This association provides support and education for individuals and their families living with developmental disabilities. Help them by volunteering at their fundraising casino March 16 and 17.

This vibrant community’s 150th anniversary is in 2011 and planning is under way for yearlong celebrations that will cherish the past, honour the present and ignite the spirit of the future. Volunteers needed to sit on the following sub-committees and help plan these celebrations: communications, marketing, advertising and media relations; volunteer recruitment and co-ordination; partner/operations support and sponsorship and cultural event planning for a river valley picnic. If you have planning experience in one or more of these areas and some time to assist, call and join the team.
