Do you enjoy books and working with children of all ages? Help children go through the library’s summer reading game, assisting them with various activities along the way. Volunteers must have completed a minimum of Grade 9. Program runs June 28 to Aug. 16. Morning, afternoon and evening shifts available, each approximately three or four hours long, with lots of flexibility to fit with your schedule and summer holidays.

Enjoy the day outdoors and help an organization that does great work. Volunteers needed to help at the military Servus Place Charity Golf Tournament, Saturday, June 19 at Lancaster Park Golf Course. Assist with silent auction items, selling mulligans, selling yellow ribbon merchandise or overseeing hole-in-one competition holes. Volunteers should have good interpersonal skills and basic knowledge of golf.

Are you comfortable with public speaking? Volunteer with this organization to present workshops to adults in the community on prevention of family violence. In addition to the workshops, you will do marketing and public relations for the program, establish community liaisons with interested groups and provide documentation on completed workshops. Complete training provided on family violence and bullying.

Are you creative with face paints and enjoy children? Volunteer at this children’s carnival on Thursday, July 15 in Kingswood Park in St. Albert. Event happens mid-day for a few hours and volunteers should be a minimum age of 14 years.

This local trail has a 300-kilometre long, volunteer-managed and maintained wilderness trail that has day hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the Edmonton area. If you have a love for nature and the outdoors and familiarity with landscaping tools, then volunteer as a chain saw, weed eater or power mower operator or general maintenance worker. Shifts can be any day of the week but occur mostly on Saturdays.

Do you enjoy the outdoors and gardening? Volunteer at our local botanic park where duties include light labour such as planting, watering, weeding, mowing grass, trimming hedges and general maintenance duties. Volunteers with carpentry and light engine maintenance skills are also required.

Give to your community and be a part of this fun-filled event that inspires patriotism and a sense of community pride for the young and young at heart. Canada Day celebrations take place at various locations in St. Albert on Thursday, July 1. Assist with set-up and takedown, site activities, be a greeter at venues or help at the information tents. Shifts are available throughout the day and evening.
