WATCH: Citadel Mews West fire brought under control

Video captures beginning of fire that spread to roof; efforts by fire crews to control the spread.

Above: St. Albert resident George Gilbeau shot this video of the early moments of the Citadel Mews West fire shortly after he arrived around 8 p.m. May 6, 2021. Gilbeau said he had been heading to the nearby Shoppers Drug Mart when he saw smoke, and stopped to investigate.

Gazette reporter Kevin Ma arrived at the fire at about 8:45 p.m. and took the following two videos of firefighters battling the blaze.

Gazette editor April Hudson arrived at the south side of the building at around 8:53 p.m. and took video of firefighters drenching the flames from the basket of a ladder truck. Below is a second video of a strong wind scooping sparks off the building and sending them billowing out into the air.
