Jake Mykitiuk led the way with a pair, including the opening goal at the 8:13 mark. Ty Stanton, Sebastien Auray, Zach Gonek, Braenden Farge, Tyler Mrkonjic and Luke Mahura also tallied. Jakob Lavoie added three assists.

Period scores were 4-0 and 7-0. Mitchell Martell (4-0-4, 2.32 GAA) turned aside 15 shots for his second shutout of the season. The Sabres peppered Camrose goalie McKenzie Candiani with 46 shots.

In the Alberta Major Bantam Hockey League, Camrose (2-12-4) is second last in the charger north division and the Sabres (12-2-5) are tops in the nitro north standings, one point ahead of the Sherwood Park Flyers (12-2-4). The Sabres and Flyers have a big game scheduled Dec. 19 at 2 p.m. at the Park. St. Albert’s two losses were against the Flyers — 4-2 last month and 6-0 in October.

Tonight at 8 p.m. the Sabres host the Canadian Athletic Club (1-16-2).

The St. Albert Slash skated into this week’s Notre Dame Hounds’ Showcase Tournament as the third place team in the Alberta Major Midget Female Hockey League’s north division.

Their record was 10-7-5 after Sunday’s 2-1 loss to the second-place Lloydminster Steelers (11-7-4) at the Border City. Jessica Kampjes opened the scoring with an early power play goal. It was her 10th goal and team-leading 23rd point for eighth place in league scoring. Shots were 35-34 for the home team. In net was Emily Mitchell.

The Slash were coming off a 7-1 thrashing of the Sherwood Park Fury (7-10-3) at the Park. Taryn McCormick’s hat trick paced the attack. She leads the team in goals with 11 and is third in points with 16. Angie Mason notched a pair and singles were sniped by Michelle Tassone and Melissa Kueber. Karly Heffernan collected four assists. Shots were 37-18 for St. Albert. In net was Tyler Lisitza.

The last league game for the Slash before the Mac’s tournament at Calgary during the Christmas break is Dec. 20 against the south division-leading Calgary Flyers (16-3-2). Faceoff is 11:30 a.m. at Performance Arena.
