Today’s kickoff times are tentatively set for 1 p.m. between the third division men and the Cold Lake Penguins (0-1); 3 p.m. for the second division men against the Clan (1-0) and the Alberta premier women against the provincial champion Calgary Irish (0-0-1) and at 5 p.m. the Alberta Cup men take on the Clan (1-0). In last weekend’s home opener against the Druids of Strathcona, the third division men lost 24-23, the Alberta premier women got hammered 67-13 and the Alberta Cup men were victorious 53-7.

The St. Albert Women’s Soccer League (SAWSL) kicks off another season Sunday with 10 matches involving teams in the first and second divisions.

Division one games of note include the Morinville Ladies, last year’s pennant winners and the league’s tier IV provincial reps, versus the Alleycats, plus the showdown between league rivals Revolution FC and Storm United. Kickoff times are 4 p.m. at the Salisbury fields.

The Battle of St. Albert in high school men’s rugby continues next week as the St. Albert Skyhawks ruck and maul with the Paul Kane Blues on Monday and the Bellerose Bulldogs on Wednesday. Kickoff times are 4:45 p.m. at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club.

The Skyhawks and Blues are winless in three matches in the metro Edmonton north pool fixtures. The Bulldogs are 1-2. Their only win was 25-0 over the Blues.

The top three teams in the north and south pools qualify for the premier conference playoffs and the remaining teams compete for the city conference title. The opening playoff round is May 26.

The St. Albert Tigers are up to bat in the Sunburst Baseball League’s season opener Tuesday against the 2009 national senior AAA champion Fort Saskatchewan Athletics. Game time is 7 p.m. at the Fort.

At 7:30 p.m. Thursday, the St. Albert Tabbies host the Athletics at Legion Memorial Park.
