Women’s rugby

Today at 2 p.m. the St. Albert Rugby Football Club hosts the Calgary Hornets in the Alberta premier women’s league.

The match also marks the start of the round two fixtures after the north and south teams played a round robin in their divisions and the top four advance to the next stage in the premier fixtures.

SARFC (3-1, 257 PF/44 PA, five bonus points) finished second in the north and the Hornets (2-2, 112 PF/84 PA, four BP) were third in the south.

15U AAA baseball

Today’s doubleheader at Legion Memorial Park features the top two teams in the Baseball Alberta 15U AAA League.

Game times are 3 and 6 p.m. between the north division St. Albert Cardinals (16-3) and the south division Foothills Dawgs Black (17-0).

Junior AAA baseball

The first-place St. Albert Cardinals in the Baseball Alberta Junior AAA League have two games scheduled Sunday at Footz Field.

The Cardinals (6-3) play at 10 a.m. against the Community Park Reds (2-5) and 5 p.m. against the Edmonton Padres (4-4)

Last year’s 21U provincial finalists are 2-2 in June.

Next weekend the Cardinals are competing in the Tigers Baseball Association tournament at Legion Memorial Park.

The Cardinals are grouped with two senior AAA Sunburst Baseball League teams, Sherwood Park Athletics and Red Deer Riggers, in pool B of the nine-team draw.

Junior A lacrosse

The St. Albert Miners are winless in five games when the junior A team hosts the Calgary Raiders this weekend in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.

The teams play tonight at 9 a.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. at Go Auto Arena.

The last game for the Miners (3-6) was a 9-8 loss to the Raiders (3-3) Sunday in Calgary.

Drillers lacrosse

Today’s home game for the St. Albert Drillers against the Calgary Cardinals starts at 1 p.m. at Akinsdale Arena.

The Cardinals are 9-0 and the Drillers are 3-9 in the junior women’s division in the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League.

The fifth loss in six games for the Drillers was Monday’s 11-2 result against the Capital Region Saints (5-6-1) at Bill Hunter Arena.

Brittney Howse leads the Drillers in scoring with 13 goals and 20 points.
