Today’s tripleheader at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club kicks off at 1 p.m. when the winless St. Albert premier women’s team tackles the second-place Lep/Tigers.

Last month the Lep/Tigers (3-1-1) downed St. Albert 57-0 in harsh weather conditions at Ellerslie Rugby Park. In the second half the women’s first 15 gave up only one try. They are averaging 77 points against while scoring 18 points overall in five losses.

The men’s Alberta Cup match between fourth-place St. Albert (3-1) and the fifth-place Red Deer Titans (3-3) goes at 3 p.m.

At 5 p.m. fourth-place St. Albert (3-3) and the sixth-place Norwesters (1-4-1) hook up in the men’s second division. The seconds are coming off their third-straight come-from-behind victory and are two points out of second spot in the Edmonton Rugby Union.

Also scheduled today is the men’s third division match between ninth-place St. Albert (1-5) and the fifth-place Clansmen (3-2) at 1 p.m. at Airways Park.

Meanwhile, in the women’s second division, winless St. Albert was shut out 80-0 by the Pirates (3-3) Wednesday at the Pirates Rugby Club. St. Albert’s line-up included strong high school representation, with four players from the Bellerose Bulldogs and a pair from the Paul Kane Blues. Brooke Meunier of the Bulldogs was player of the game and Kristen Porter of the Blues showed promise in her women’s debut. Sabrina Kelly of the Blues also made an appearance and she will see playing time today with the premier team.

The women’s second 15 has averaged 64.8 points against in five losses while only scoring two converted tries all season.
