Junior AAA Cardinals

The Junior AAA St. Albert Cardinals have a busy Sunday up ahead with two games, one of which is against the first place Edmonton Padres.

The Cardinals (9-5-0) are currently in second place with 18 points, and are only two points behind the Padres (10-6-0) in the standings, after falling 14-7 in their previous matchup on July 10.

The Cardinals then play the Community Park Reds in the afternoon. The Park Reds (6-9-0) are currently fourth in the league with 12 points, and lost their last game against the Cardinals 5-4 back on June 30.

The first game is at 10 a.m. and the second is at 4 p.m., with both being played at Legion Memorial Ball Park’s Midget Diamond in St. Albert.

Senior AA Cardinals

The Senior AA St. Albert Cardinals take on the Stony Plain Mets in the North Central Alberta Baseball League on Tuesday.

Afterwards, the Cardinals will have six games remaining in the regular season before the league championship semifinals begin on Aug. 12, with the top four teams in the standings making the cut.

The Cardinals (6-6-1) are currently sitting in fifth place in the league, with the Mets (6-8-0) right behind them in sixth. The teams’ last matchup was back on June 24, with the Cardinals taking the game with a score of 7-4.

The game begins at 7:15 p.m. at Legion Memorial Park in St. Albert.

Rugby

The Alberta Premier Women host the Calgary Canadian Irish on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the St. Albert Rugby Football Club, with the next game being against the NorWesters Athletic Association at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

The St. Albert Premier (2-0-3) are currently sixth in the league with 12 points, after losing their last game to the Red Deer Titans back on July 13. The Calgary Canadian Irish (0-0-5) currently sit in last place with one point.

The Division Two Men with the St. Albert Rugby Football Club play the Grande Prairie Centaurs on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the Grande Prairie Rugby Football Club.

The St. Albert RFC (3-0-3) are currently fifth in the league with 15 points, after losing their last game to the Clansmen RFC on July 13. The undefeated Centaurs (6-0-0) are first in the league with 30 points going into Saturday’s game.
